Second annual Micah Hyde golf tournament supports UI children's hospital

The second annual Micah Hyde Charity Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. The event is organized by the Imagine for Youth Foundation in collaboration with University of Iowa students who plan the outing as part of a class.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. The Imagine for Youth Foundation raised $50,000 for the hospital during the inaugural tournament last year, according to event details. Theisen’s committed to matching the first $25,000 raised at this year's event.

"Imagine for Youth always wanted to do something in Iowa City. The golf event came up and then we talked about the students of the class actually helping and then it fell onto me working on getting former players back. All the proceeds go to the children's hospital," Micah Hyde said.

"We love golf, we love football, [but] this is what it's all about. Giving back, helping the kids, having fun, connecting, being in the community. I appreciate Micah Hyde for hosting this event," Deshaun Lee said.

"The class is allocated the task of planning the outing. We have been planning since January, we [met] a couple hours every week... we've coordinated with sponsors, four some's, football players. Everything you see here today is made by the students," Lucy Rammer said.

University of Iowa students began planning the tournament as part of a class project in January 2026. The exact total amount raised during the 2026 tournament has not been confirmed.
